WiFi Password Ideas
Generate strong Wi-Fi passwords that are easy to read and type.
A good Wi-Fi password needs to balance two goals: it must be long and random enough to resist brute-force attacks, but also readable enough that your guests can type it off a sticky note without confusing 0 and O, or 1 and l. This tool generates 12-character passwords by default, excludes ambiguous characters like capital I, lowercase l, digit 1, capital O and digit 0, and lets you add symbols when your router supports them. Because WPA2/WPA3 handshake attacks are the main threat to home Wi-Fi, a 12-character password with mixed character sets is more than enough. Everything runs locally in your browser — no password is uploaded, logged or stored. Print the result on a card near your router and give it to guests when they arrive.
Frequently Asked Questions
How long should a Wi-Fi password be?
At least 12 characters. WPA2/WPA3 with a 12-character random password is essentially unbreakable for home use.
Why exclude ambiguous characters?
Guests typing your Wi-Fi password should not have to guess whether that character is zero or the letter O. We remove Il1O0 by default.
Should I use WPA2 or WPA3?
Use WPA3 if your router and devices support it. Otherwise WPA2 with a strong password is still secure for home networks.
